My life and my relationship with my dog has taken a huge positive turn. click here to find out how I finally solved the problem.

Do you have a disobedient dog? Do you want to control your dogs barking? I was in the same position 3 months ago. Let me tell you my story.

A bit about my dog Sammy and my story.

My dogs name is Sammy and he is a border collie, lovely dog with very high energy levels who I adore and love to bits. With such an active dog, it can sometimes be frustrating , especially for Sammy which means he can bark and also misbehave!. I have always had a good relationship with my neighbours, however a disobedient dog who regularly barks will test any relationship.

What did I try to help the situation?

I have tried all sorts to improve my dogs barking and general behaviour, including various dog obedience collars, such as the static collar, tone collar, ultrasonic collar and citronella type collars. You name the stop bark type collar and I have tried it.

They have worked a little, however I just couldn’t get to grips with it all. To add to this my moral side kept niggling away at me. Was I doing the right thing using these collars, was it cruel, was I even using them correctly. There are forms of discipline that are acceptable and should be used, however to just use them willy nilly felt like it was being unfair to Sammy.

I felt that all I was doing was suppressing the the barking and not really getting to the root cause of it. At a simplistic level, all I was really looking to do was to find a way to teach Sammy to understand when it was the right time to bark and when it was wrong. I searched high and low for methods on how to stop barking dogs, how to train your dog, how to stop barking, dog training, you name it I read it. There were some bits that were useful such as

1.Repetitive dog training – Where you keep repeating the same commands, such as sit, stop and then reward.

2.Rewarding – Where you reward your dog with treats

3.Exercising – Sammy is very active and more exercise did help.

4.Dieting – Making sure Sammy had the best possible diet.

Some of this did work, however the reality of it was I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing. There was no structure around what I was doing, I was trying to find quick ways to resolve the problem with little success. Part of the problem was that I had no real guidance. I didn’t really want to spend a fortune on a specialist dog trainer so I continued muddling on as best I could.

Until one day I stumbled upon something that would change everything….

This was different to all other methods I had tried, it had the structure that I needed and simple step by step easy to follow instructions. I had nothing to lose so I gave it a go. Well several months down the line and the difference is incredible, Sammy is like a completely different dog. He is still active as ever, but I wouldn’t change that for the world. But now he listens and follows my lead, I now understand the whys and the hows and what works and doesn’t work.

When I look back it now, it all seems obvious!! How Hindsight is such a wonderful thing. But some times you just can’t see the wood for the trees and some direction and guidance is all you need.
