Stop a Dog from Barking – How did I do it?
Hello everyone, John back again. Before I tell you what I did to stop a dog from barking. I Thought I would first take this opportunity to talk about Sammy my Border Collie and how I started on my journey. Sammy is a 2 year ancient border collie, who I have had for just of over 2 years. I have had him since he was a puppy and he is my best friend! Sammy is a very active dog as you would expect with a border collie. He likes attention, is fantastic with my children who adore him. We live by the coast so he gets fantastic walk every weekend and so gets plenty of excise.
About a year ago, he developed a barking habbit, I am not sure what has caused it, but it gradually got worse and worse, to the point where he was barking very frequently. I will at this point say, that Sammy has never been an agressive dog and his barking was more nuisance barking rather than agressive barking. But that said, what I have learnt will help with any dog behaviour problems. Anyway back to my tale.
At the time I could not know why. He was in a loved home, he had a excellent balanced diet and regular exercise. So I was a small lost with it all. Anyway I tried various methods and techniques which helped a bit, but did not really solve the barking issues. I was starting to get frustrated, as I was getting complaints from my neighbours. So the whole situation was becoming very stressfull.
Now 6 months laters everything is so much better, I have learnt how to control my dogs barking and sammy, my neighbours and my family are all feeling much better for it.!
