Dog Training – motivating your dog for a fast, enthusiastic retrieve

www.bighoneydog.com / Like a lot of HUGE dogs, Honey the Fantastic Dane is very mellow, with low work drive and hard to motivate so a lot of training is devoted to getting her excited and enthusiastic about doing things! Here is one example of how Honey was encouraged to perform the Obedience Retrieve with fantastic speed and enthusiasm. Basically, it comes down to the dog viewing all training exercises as a fun game.

Thank you for posting this video I hope it will help to motivate us with our extremely laid back Lab. He has always been very chilled but he seems to have lost so much interest in the obedience classes.
    Your dog is lovely!

I can’t believe you even remembered there was something to retrieve after that endless “wait” you had to do. You are willing to run much further than I am. Such an athlete!

Yay for motivation! it can be hard even for a small dog like mine to get the right motivation, but you did exactly what I do, just make it seem like a retrieve is the funnest thing in the world and they believe you!

READ MY STORY!

How to stop barking dogs!

Hey this is John, above is my 2 year old border collie. I built this site to help others who are struggling with dog behavioural problems.

Up to a few months a go Sammy had a few behaviour type problems and barked a lot. To the point where my neighbours were complaining regularly.

I have searched high and low for the answer, I tried out lots of different methods, including remote static and vibration colars, citronella colars and various other products, with no real success.

Well there is a way......

I eventually found my way and Sammy and me have worked through our problems. Sammy no longer barks, we are both much happier and no more complains from my neighbours !!

I wish I new back then what I know now! To find out more about how I did it click here.
