Looks like the dogs don’t have very solid obedience training if they won’t sit simply by command. A trained dog should sit when told sit.

Lol excellent point. This method does work though, lots of trainers use this method. The best thing to do is set up the situation (have a patient friend come over lol) where someone at the door knocks (so you have ample time). Obviously if the UPS guy knocks on the door you should answer it straight away, so place the dogs in another room during training when you need to answer straight away. You just don’t ever want to reward the dogs by answering the door in front of them.

try telling the ups guy to wait for 20 min while you cool the dogs down

Excellent advice thanks! But you need a new video to train your camera man to stop rustling the camera mic while you’re talking. :P

Everyone keeps saying stuff about how these dogs are acting when the guy is trying to teach us things. Well, my answer to you is this. Take a look, he has a few videos, really quite a few. He is wearing the same clothes in all of them, so I reckon it is safe to say that these videos were all done the same day. These dogs are nothing more then confused, they are getting some mixed signals on this day. He has told them no and made them submit when they did nothing. Wouldn’t you be confused.

  • EightPaws4Hoof says:

He forgot to say “every time” at the end! It’s consistency that works with any training. Wanted to have seen someone knock on the door I bet they wouldn’t have still sat there!

  • xoxo276 says:

aww the dogs looked so cute sitting there with excited anticipation for some non existent person to come through the door.

  • id0069 says:

why do you always have to push the dogs butt down on the ground? It seems that they aren’t really listening to you. IOW they don’t respect you and don’t see you as their leader.

  • twilightaddict1414 says:

wow nice thats a really cool concept thanks for posting it i’ll deffinately try this out with my dog :)

  • 75801Tammy says:

This was a nice tip but I did notice that you use physical touch to get the dogs to sit. Why is that?

  • ppimpin007 says:

READ MY STORY!

How to stop barking dogs!

Hey this is John, above is my 2 year old border collie. I built this site to help others who are struggling with dog behavioural problems.

Up to a few months a go Sammy had a few behaviour type problems and barked a lot. To the point where my neighbours were complaining regularly.

I have searched high and low for the answer, I tried out lots of different methods, including remote static and vibration colars, citronella colars and various other products, with no real success.

Well there is a way......

I eventually found my way and Sammy and me have worked through our problems. Sammy no longer barks, we are both much happier and no more complains from my neighbours !!

I wish I new back then what I know now! To find out more about how I did it click here.
