How do I keep my dog from barking in the house?
My dog likes to bark uncontrollably in the house. It’s not just when people come to the door. She will be sleeping and the next minute barking her head off and running through the entire house. She barks at nothing. I know she probably hears something that I don’t, but it’s annoying when I can’t control my own dog. Please Help!

Teach your dog to down.
When this behavior starts then you give your dog a command… changing the pace of things…
All of a sudden she has a different job to do… ***all dogs need a job***… as she downs for you be sure to pay her (smiles- treat time for a excellent job- or at the very least pat her and be excited with her).
Teaching your dog A command or two used when you want to control your dog will come in very handy… works especially well when guests come over or you have to answer the door..

please dont try those collars that shock ur dog if it barks!!!!!!!
Barking is the means of normal communication for a dog. So, you don’t won’t to really suppress or discourage it. But, excess barking is very annoying and inappropriate behavior for a domestic dog. She needs to be trained in this regard.
While there are many folks who disagree with the invisible or electric fence concept, there is ample evidence that when used according to the instructions the devices are safe and will not harm your dog. Also, these same companies (Innotek and Pet Safe – they are both really owned by the same parent company) have nonelectric (spray) devices to deter barking and also electric ones as well.
The electricity employed is DC (direct current) derived from a battery. It is low voltage and amperage so their is literally no injury to the dog. If used excessively over time the collar itself and excess discharges potentially can cause scarring of the underlying skin but this is rare unless the owner abuses the device.
Log on to these sites to further investigate your options. Several models include a small remote control which you can have with you at all times during the training period. It has a “sound function” just like the invisible fences wherein you give the dog an aural warning while telling her not to do the unwanted behavior. If she persists, you deliver a “shock.” There are usually 5-9 levels of shock and the dog generally gets the message at very low levels. While not perfect, these devices work very well. You should always use positive feedback when employing these devices; this will reinforce her learning.

See if you find a training book. I took mine to a class and we use a spray bottle of water when they bark…..just a couple of sprays in the face and they stop. When they stop barking they get a treat…..they are getting better and the command of “stop”. Dogs are simple to train it just takes effort on your part to keep it going!
