How do Iget my dog to stop barking at dogs on TV?

I have an eight month ancient puppy. Every time she hears a dog bark on t.v. she goes nuts. She does n’ t realize it comes from the t.v. We tried to watch a movie with dogs in it once and she was freaking out.
We even watched the N.Y. dog show so that she could see them barking and they’d stay on screen longer . She watched that very interested for an hour.
But then she just went back to barking whenever she hears even the slightest bark and she keeps looking at the windows.
I don’t reckon you’re getting it. She gets upset when she hears them and keeps walking around looking for them. Maybe she was born around huge dogs that frightened her or something.. It’s not cute or amusing or a clean trick.

My 9 month ancient golden does the same thing, it’s hysterical! I let her go for a bit, then give her her favorite toy. She eventually forgets about the tv.

I don’t know but when you find out - let me know because ours does the same thing. Also, if a baby or kid is crying, he runs around looking for it.

    Your puppy is very cute.
If I were you, I’ll let him have fun, be spontaneous, while learning new things with a sense of wonder and excitement.

    Dogs are amusing.

I would start by hitting it with a paper and if that dont work, hit him with something like a tire iron.

    Excellent luck

Hopefully, she will grow out of it. I have an eight year ancient dog, he never pays any attention to the T.V. , even if there are dogs on it. If we say look at the puppy, he’ll start barking and run to the window. She’s still a baby, time will tell.

    beat it

  • willtdn says:

First off do not listen to these idiots that tell you to hit the dog or beat it—that’s not what to do==We have two Yellow labs and the younger one did that for awhile==we would just tell him excellent boy its OK its OK –eventually he got out of that habit==he will once in awhile give a small growl or look at the image on the tv–but hey–thats fine–gives us a few laughs also

Does it bother you that much? My puppy does that too but that’s what dogs do. Try to tell her no in a firm voice. She is a puppy and might outgrow it. excellent luck

How to stop barking dogs!

Hey this is John, above is my 2 year old border collie. I built this site to help others who are struggling with dog behavioural problems.

Up to a few months a go Sammy had a few behaviour type problems and barked a lot. To the point where my neighbours were complaining regularly.

I have searched high and low for the answer, I tried out lots of different methods, including remote static and vibration colars, citronella colars and various other products, with no real success.

Well there is a way......

I eventually found my way and Sammy and me have worked through our problems. Sammy no longer barks, we are both much happier and no more complains from my neighbours !!

I wish I new back then what I know now! To find out more about how I did it click here.
