We have new neighbors went in, and their dog barks, and whines and howls continuously all day long from about 7 in the morning till about 10 at night and they never even once go out and tell it to shut up. It’s driving everyone nuts! Should I try to do something about it? What steps should I take without getting into any distress myself?

Up to a few months a go Sammy had a few behaviour type problems and barked a lot. To the point where my neighbours were complaining regularly.
I have searched high and low for the answer, I tried out lots of different methods, including remote static and vibration colars, citronella colars and various other products, with no real success.
Well there is a way......
I eventually found my way and Sammy and me have worked through our problems. Sammy no longer barks, we are both much happier and no more complains from my neighbours !!

First speak with your neighbors – tell them it’s driving you nuts.
If that doesn’t work, call Animal Control – I’m sure your city has a noise ordinance.
go to the counsil if your in acounsil house if not then thers not much u ca do x
you can call the cops and and they will probably give your neighbors a warning to keep the dog inside by a certain time at night and in the morning but other than that u cant do much about it
I would try talking to your neighbours as a courtesy before taking any further action.
You never know, they might not have realised how much he is annoying you and they might try and do something about it.
If not, you can speak to your local council/RSPCA for more advice.
You can make an anonymous complaint to either the police or animal control. Barking dogs are a nuisance, your neighbors could possibly get a fine. Hopefully the police showing up at their door will motivate them to do something about it.
Encourage other neighbors to also complain. They will take it more seriously.
Poor you. If you reckon it would make any difference with these people go speak with them (and get back up from others who are being bothered). But, don’t hold your breath that you won’t just get a load of verbal. If they allow their dog to do this, they obviously don’t give a fig for what anyone else thinks. You could go in with the ‘we are concerned that your dog is hurt/in distress’ angle. Might work if they reckon you are going to report them to the Humane Society?
Anyhow, keep a note of the times you hear him. I don’t know what happens where you are (?) but in the UK you can contact the local Council, Environmental Health Department, and they will deal with excessive noise nuisance, or your local equivalent.

Well I have a dog & he barks all the time too.You can go to your neighbor’s house and tell him nicely to do something about the dog.
I despise people who let their dogs bark all the time. I usually go into their yard at night and get the dog and take him to a rescue group or shelter. If people are going to be so inconsiderate they really don’t deserve “nice” or “polite.” they know their dog is barking, they’re just idiots who chose to get a dog on a whim, then when it wasnt a novelty anymore they tossed it in the backyard. So yeah. Oh, once it happened and I didn’t know whose dog it was so I just called the cops and they took care of it.
I feel your pain. Our neighbor has three Springer Spaniels that bark their heads off starting at 7:30 in the morning through the rest of the day. Finally, we just chose to bite the bullet and have a confrontation. I know it’s not the simplest thing to do, but that’s where you should start. Be civil of course, and just clarify that the barking is driving you mad. If they don’t seem willing to place forth the effort to stop it, then you can probably call animal control.
in city limits there are noise ordinances,. and they can get a ticket….huge whoop doubt they’ll care tho. i have had to deal with this before,it sucks. makes you want to call or ring their doorbell in the middle of the night just so you can say, ya this is how i feel when your dogs bark all night!

I recently had a really terrible situation involving my neighbor’s dogs and their barking. I work at night and sleep during the day when people usually don’t pay attention to their barking dogs.
I questioned my neighbors to silent their dogs down and they agreed. The dogs are still barking at about the same rate so I am sure that they did not take me seriously.
After weeks of not being able to sleep, I chose to check the internet and found a lot of people that recommended “The Barking Dog CD”.
To make a long tale small, I popped the CD into my CD player and the dogs stopped barking nearly immediately. As on person stated “I nearly fell out of my chair when the dogs stopped barking”.
