She might just be frightened or reckon she’s protecting her family. My dog does similar things during thunderstorms.

She could. Dogs certainly know these things, I’d be ready to go into the basement or wherever you go when tornados come to be safe.

It is probably just the noise of the thunder and lightning. You will KNOW if a tornado is headed your way. Keep cool and she will eventually cool as well.

dogs can sense when something terrible is about to happen. She is trying to protect you. do you have a basement? take all of your most cherish possesions that you can and go into it.Tip: if you dont have enough arm room like me, stuff stuff in a closet.

You have a tornado warning and you’re on YA?! Why aren’t you and your dog in the basement!!!

Tornado warning means there is a tornado in your area TAKE COVER!!

Three of my four dogs do this when there are thunder storms. You need to either go to your local pet store or question your vet if they carry Anxiety TFLN. It is all natural, will cheap – about $10, and will cool your dog down without doping it.

The amount you give is based on weight. You place the drops on a treat or piece of bread – wait about 15 minutes and you will have a cool dog. It is made especially for thunder storms and fireworks. If I know there is a huge storm headed our way, I will give the medicine ahead of time.

    Excellent luck!

Well, supposedly the dog kind has a small muscle underneath the brain that can pick up quick moving particles in the air, especially electromagnetic, which is detected through the ear, this muscle, the eyes, and even their feet.
This gives the impression that the dog knows that she/he knows that there is a quick moving electric storm on the way.
Dogs can feel that something is going to happen miles away, but until you’re in the situation you notice your dogs behavior, because you become more alert in this kind of situation.
It may just be thunder and lightning, it may be that she/he is picking up the air flow and with mixed feelings, they require it to get to safety.
If a tornado does come, make sure your dog can’t escape from the basement, otherwise she/he might escape mid flow and get hurt by the external forces from the storm.
I once went on holiday to Orlando (and Disney World) when I was younger, and we had a Hurricane warning once, although there was none and we weren’t near the ocean, there was surprisingly a force four tornado waiting to greet us outside, we had not got a basement, but for some reason, my Aunt’s dog (who we visited) was barking and probably wanted to run into the path of it, as if it was another dog.
So I’d keep your dog under control unless you wish to lose it.
If there is an electric storm, keep off the PC, unless of course you have very excellent surge protection (in the aid to prevent electrocution), even surge protectors are unsafe, safety first.
Humans don’t have a large mid-brain and therefore cannot detect this (more memory and thought processing).
    Thanks.

READ MY STORY!

How to stop barking dogs!

Hey this is John, above is my 2 year old border collie. I built this site to help others who are struggling with dog behavioural problems.

Up to a few months a go Sammy had a few behaviour type problems and barked a lot. To the point where my neighbours were complaining regularly.

I have searched high and low for the answer, I tried out lots of different methods, including remote static and vibration colars, citronella colars and various other products, with no real success.

Well there is a way......

I eventually found my way and Sammy and me have worked through our problems. Sammy no longer barks, we are both much happier and no more complains from my neighbours !!

I wish I new back then what I know now! To find out more about how I did it click here.
